Graphic Design Diploma

Prepare for a career in design with the Diploma in Graphic Design. This one-year full-time course provides you with the skills and knowledge needed for the next step in your design career.

Students develop a broad range of skills, knowledge and understanding through use of practical and theoretical training in typography, layout, colour and production skills. You will undertake visual research and be encouraged to explore and develop skills in typography, illustration, packaging, logos, animation and more.

Requirements

General

  • You must be at least sixteen (16) years of age
  • Admission decisions are based on academic achievements, the strength of an applicant's portfolio and a successful interview.

Qualifications

  • Three CSEC grades A - C which MUST include English and Math or
  • One CAPE or equivalent, in an art and design subject

Interviews
All prospective students will attend an interview where they should:

  • Be proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking and listening)
  • Have a portfolio, which demonstrates they have an introductory knowledge of design theory and skills using creative software.

To get the best out of the programme, it is beneficial for you to have knowledge of design theory and the ability to use creative software. If you need to development these areas, we encourage you to enrol on the Graphic Design Certificate programme.

Title: Diploma in Art & Design - Graphic Design

The Diploma in Graphic Design is an ideal pathway you are looking to further your education onto a Higher Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design or another design related subject. The programme also prepares you for a entry-level position in the creative industry.

A candidate must gain all 120 credits to be awarded of the full Level 3 Diploma qualification. Candidates who achieve at least 90 credits will be awarded the 90-credit Diploma in Art and Design.

You should show signs of creativity and imagination and have an ability to find practical solutions to problems. You would like a career in the creative industry.

It is essential that prospective students have knowledge of design theory and the ability to use creative software. Candidates who fall outside of the general admission criteria and selections are encouraged to enroll in the foundation design programme.
